Unai Emery will take a late call on Ollie Watkins ahead of Aston Villa's Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Watkins was replaced by Jhon Duran for the start of the second half against RB Leipzig on Tuesday after picking up a "small injury". Villa will train at Bodymoor Heath this afternoon and if Watkins gets through it, then he will be named in the squad.

"After the training session, we are going to decide how the players are", Emery said when asked about team news. "Yesterday was a recovery session and some players rested. Today we are going to try and train to know how we are after a period of four matches."

Pushed on Watkins' availability, Emery said: "I don’t know. In case he is training and feeling good, then he will be available tomorrow."

Nottingham Forest have only won two of the past 18 meetings with Villa in all competitions, latterly by 2-0 at home in the Premier League 13 months ago. However, Villa are winless in five Premier League visits to Forest, drawing four of them, since a 2-1 triumph in January 1995.

Villa come into the game having earned three successive victories in all competitions, as many as in their previous 13 matches. However, Villa are winless in their past four top-flight fixtures directly following a Champions League game.

After facing Forest, Villa will play three games in the space of nine days against Manchester City, Newcastle United and Brighton before the turn of the New Year.
