Brentford striker Ollie Watkins has been named the Championship’s best player at the EFL’s end-of-season awards.

Watkins scored 26 goals as the Bees narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League, falling short in a tight all-London play-off final against Fulham.

The striker has been strongly linked with a move to several top flight clubs since the end of the season, with Crystal Palace and Aston Villa among the sides interested in his services ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Jude Bellingham meanwhile picked up the young player of the year award.

The 17-year-old made 44 appearances for Birmingham, earning a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich last month. Manchester United were eager to sign the midfielder who opted for a move to Germany instead.

Peterborough top scorer Ivan Toney picked up the Sky Bet League One player of the season award, while Swindon striker Eoin Doyle received the League Two honour.
