Antonio Conte is preparing to revamp his goalkeeper options at Tottenham by signing Fraser Forster and letting Pierluigi Gollini go, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Gollini left Atalanta in July last year to join Tottenham on a season-long loan deal. The north London outfit reportedly have an option to buy him for just under £13million.

The Italian arrived at Tottenham to challenge club captain Hugo Lloris, who is now 35 and in the final few years of his career.

But Gollini has had to settle for a place on the bench for most of the 2021-22 campaign. He has had to rely on cup competitions for rare bits of game time.

The 27-year-old went on to make 10 appearances, but none of those came in the Premier League as Lloris kept his spot.

Due to Conte’s pecking order, Gollini and his agent have begun looking for a new team. That’s because Atalanta have little need for him once he returns to them this summer.

Serie A club Torino could land him after registering their interest.

Last week, Gollini said he is happy to stay at Spurs, although he would also welcome a move back to Italy if one presented itself.

Fabrizio Romano talks Fraser Forster, Gollini futures

Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Gollini’s situation and Forster’s potential arrival from Southampton.

The transfer specialist claims Gollini will leave Spurs. He is now a target for Fiorentina as they want to replace Bartlomiej Dragowski.

Spurs will allow Gollini to go as they plan to make six-time England international Forster his replacement.

The 34-year-old will become Lloris’ backup over the summer after opting to leave St Mary’s. He is available on a free transfer as his contract runs out at the end of June.

Spurs were initially linked with Forster at the start of the week. It appears the transfer is gathering pace and could be confirmed in the next few days.

Forster is a decent addition to Conte’s squad. Unlike Gollini, he has plenty of experience in the Premier League, which could make him a reliable backup.

Plus, Forster pulled off some top saves in the final few months of the campaign as Southampton’s defence repeatedly crumbled.

He is giving up some game time to join Spurs, as Lloris will almost certainly remain as the first pick. But a move to Tottenham is a step up for Forster and he will be hoping to appear more than Gollini next season.

Meanwhile, Brazilian forward Hulk has revealed Jose Mourinho tried to sign him during the manager’s spell at Spurs.
