Oneonta men edge New Paltz in OT; Hartwick falls in 2OT

Feb. 12—The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team rallied late in regulation and eventually defeated SUNY New Paltz 85-77 in overtime Saturday.

The Red Dragons were down by seven in the final two minutes but closed the gap to send the game into overtime.

Xavier Hill had a monster game, finishing with 31 points and 16 rebounds. Mohammad Sylla added 17 points, Graham Wooden scored 11 and Daniel Penubothula had nine points and eight rebounds.

Oneonta (12-11 overall, 9-7 SUNYAC) will visit SUNY Potsdam Friday.

Alfred 84, Hartwick 81, 2OT (Saturday)

Hartwick fell to Alfred 84-81 in a double overtime heartbreaker on the road Saturday.

Daniel Oyediran and Jeremiah Boateng each scored 15 points to lead the Hawks' offense.

Malachi Polson and Henry Perkins scored 14 points apiece while Shea Barber had 10.

Hartwick (1-21 overall, 0-15 Empire 8) will conclude its season Wednesday at home against Houghton.

SUNY Poly 72, SUNY Delhi 62 (Saturday)

SUNY Delhi ended its regular season Saturday with a 72-62 road loss to SUNY Poly.

Marven Louissaint poured in 29 points and seven rebounds for the Broncos while Lester McCarthy had 10 points and seven rebounds and Pablo Quinones added nine points and six assists.

Delhi (13-12 overall, 6-6 NAC) awaits its first-round opponent in the NAC Tournament.


SUNY New Paltz 63, SUNY Oneonta 53 (Saturday)The SUNY Oneonta women fell to SUNY New Paltz 63-53 Saturday in its Senior Night game.

Jenna Harclerode recorded a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds while adding five assists in the loss.

Amanda Zuntag and Molly Stephens scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Red Dragons (10-13 overall, 8-8 SUNYAC) will be at SUNY Potsdam Friday.

Hartwick dropped a 54-45 decision to Hartwick on the road Saturday.

Isabella Astorino led the scoring for the Hawks with 18 points while adding six rebounds. Bree Fargnoli scored 13 points while Caitie Unger added eight.

Hartwick (11-13 overall, 8-7 Empire 8) will host Houghton Wednesday in its regular season finale.


The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team lost its final dual match of the season Saturday 33-13 to RIT.

Winning for the Red Dragons were Danny Poggi (133 pounds), Jack Ryan (184) and Carson LiCastri (197).

Oneonta will compete in the Mideast Regionals beginning March 1.


RIT 8, SUNY Oneonta 1 (Saturday


SUNY Oneonta's men's tennis team dropped its spring opener Saturday 8-1 to RIT.

Notching the lone win for the Red Dragons was Chris Chippari, who won in third singles 6-4, 5-7, 11-9.

Oneonta will be on the road Saturday against St. Lawrence.
