'I only left Everton this summer but I love Arne Slot and would consider signing for Liverpool'
Arnaut Danjuma, the ex-Villarreal forward who spent last season on loan at Everton in the Premier League, says he would consider a move to Liverpool if the opportunity ever came up.
Danjuma has been tentatively linked with a transfer move to Anfield in the past but he made little impact at Goodison Park. He hasn't really lived up to expectations since signing for Villarreal for $28m (£21m/€25m) from then-Championship side Bournemouth.
Speaking to ESPN Netherlands program De Voetbalkantine (translated by FC Update), Danjuma, who now plays for Girona in La Liga, admitted it would be hard to turn down the Reds. There is no suggestion that Liverpool would be in for him, however.
Arne Slot set to experience what Jurgen Klopp hated as Dominik Szoboszlai could lead 5 changes I’ve seen Arne Slot change Liverpool needed and Man City and Arsenal should be scared
"As a player, you have to be ambitious and if a big club comes, you should always consider it," the 27-year-old explained. "I don’t think there will be many people sitting at the table there who will say no to Liverpool."
Arne Slot, he says, has shown an interest in him in the past. "Feyenoord had shown a bit more interest in me [in 2023]," Danjuma claimed. "That was mainly when Slot was the coach there. I considered it at the time and spoke to Slot. I am a fan of his style of play and have a lot of confidence in him as a coach."
Girona will host Liverpool in January in the Champions League group phase. Slot's side will take on Bologna at Anfield this midweek looking to build on its matchday one win over AC Milan at San Siro.
Liverpool.com says: Danjuma was a promising player when he came through as a youngster but has never really managed to kick on and find another level. He has talent but doesn't score enough or make enough of a consistent impact in the final third.
There is still time for him during his career because he is only 27. But the chances of him ever ending up at Liverpool are pretty slim at this point in time. His best work has come when he has been in Spain.
