Despite Chelsea's Benoit Badiashile facing limited playing time in the Premier League, the 23-year-old centre-back has expressed a strong desire to remain at Stamford Bridge and battle for his spot under head coach Enzo Maresca.

With reports from France hinting at a possible transfer, Badiashile, who is likely set for action in the upcoming Conference League clash against FC Noah, responded determinedly. "Of course I want to stay, Chelsea is a big club," the defender said. "I know how it’s difficult to succeed here but I will try to do my best.

"When you are a footballer you want to play every game but in a club like Chelsea you have a lot of good players. You have to use the minutes that you have and try to be your best."

Furthermore, he outlined his approach, adding: "I know how it is hard to play in this club with this kind of player. The only thing I can do is work hard and try to convince the gaffer to play me at the weekend."

After joining from Monaco in January 2023 for £32million, Badiashile quickly adapted, securing 11 league appearances in the latter half of the 2022-23 campaign and displaying commendable form.

Despite an injury setback, he returned in March to contribute significantly to Chelsea's strong finish to the season. Nonetheless, since Maresca's tenure, he's been confined mostly to cup games, fuelling rumours regarding his future with the January transfer window looming.

And Badiashile has expressed his admiration for the Italian coach. "He’s a great person and coach with good ideas. I think we have the same vision of football. I really enjoy the time with the gaffer."
