Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price both appear to be on a collision course for a major unification showdown next year. Jonas will make her long-awaited return to the ring when she takes on WBC belt-holder Ivana Habazin at the Exhibition Centre on Saturday, December 14.

The 40-year-old hasn’t fought since she retained her IBF welterweight title with a close split-decision win over Mikaela Mayer at the M&S Bank Arena back in January. Price will make the first defence of her WBA welterweight title against Bexcy Mateusown on the undercard of the showdown between Jonas and Habazin.

Speaking recently, Boxxer founder and CEO Ben Shalom claimed victories for the pair on December 14 would put them on course for a collision in the early part of next year. And both fighters appear to be keen on the showdown - provided they both fulfil their commitments next month.

"One hundred percent,” Price replied when asked on Sky Sports about a possible Jonas showdown. “I've got respect for Tasha, but it's a great fight; it's a great British fight, one of the best fights out there.

"I believe in myself. I believe I can become undisputed in that division. It's a massive fight, and I'm excited. I believe in myself, and I believe I get that win as well."

Replying to Price, Jonas said: "The only thing I can say is we'll see, and that's it. She's got one of the belts I've never had, which is the WBA. I want to take that home with me. So we'll see."

Asked about her fight with Habazin, Jonas added, "I'm very motivated. It's been a long time sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else box.

“I'm just glad to be back out and boxing in my home city. There's no place like home; I love bringing big-time boxing back to Liverpool.

"When you get to this level, everyone's difficult. There's no easy night. I'm expecting a tough fight. That's what I've trained for."
