Onyekuru counts his blessings after Anderlecht’s Champions League victory over Celtic

The Purple and White got their first points in the campaign against the Bhoys and the 20-year-old is delighted with the triumph

Henry Onyekuru is elated with Anderlecht’s victory over Celtic in Tuesday’s Champions League encounter at Celtic Park.

After five games without a single point in the competition, Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s men finally got off the mark with an away win - though will not make it to the Europa League.

In the 62nd minute, Jozo Simunovic turned the ball into his own net when he powered home Dennis Appiah’s cross to hand the Belgian champions the maximum points.

Impressed with the performance, the Everton loanee has taken to the social media to savour the victory.

“Great win. Amazing atmosphere (in the) Uefa Champions League. Thankful,” Onyekuru tweeted.

Onyekuru who has registered eight goals this season will be looking to add to his tally when they welcome Sporting Charleroi to Constant Vanden Stock Stadium for their next league match on Sunday.
