Prince Harry and Meghan discussed life after stepping away as senior royals in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday.

Oprah With Meghan And Harry: A CBS Primetime Special, is a two-hour televised event and the first sit-down interview with the couple since their BBC engagement interview in November 2017.

In the preview clips, the Duke of Sussex told Winfrey his biggest fear was "history repeating itself," a reference to the death of his mother, Princess Diana. The host was also seen asking the Duchess of Sussex about life in Britain and asked if it was"almost unsurvivable”.

In a second promotional clip, that was released just hours after Buckingham Palace said it will launch an investigation into claims that Meghan bullied former royal staff, the Duchess of Sussex described the royal family as “The Firm” and accused them of “perpetuating falsehoods”.

The third clip, released on Friday, March 3, showed Meghan explaining to Oprah why she couldn’t give the TV host an interview in the months before her wedding in 2018.

“That wasn’t my choice to make,” the duchess said.

She added that to be able to finally say “yes” to the interview was “really liberating” and a “privilege”.

The interview aired in the US hours after the Queen spoke of “testing times” in a televised special to mark Commonwealth Day.

In her address, the Queen praised the “selfless dedication to duty” seen across the Commonwealth, particularly on the frontline.

Ahead of its premiere in the UK, we’ve rundown what we know:

What time is the Meghan and Harry interview in the UK and how can I watch it?

Oprah With Meghan And Harry: A CBS Primetime Special premiered on American television network CBS News on Sunday March 7 at 8pm Eastern Time.

ITV will air the interview 24 hours later on Monday March 8 at 9pm.

The deal with ITV is said to have cost around £1 million, having beaten Sky to the rights after talks with ViacomCBS.

Kevin Lygo, ITV managing director of media & entertainment, said: “This interview is already a national talking point and ITV is pleased to be able to offer UK audiences the opportunity to see it.”

What do we know about the Meghan and Harry interview from the teaser clips?

CBS has released three 30-second teasers from the two-hour interview, providing insight into what to expect from the conversation.

In the clips, Harry opens up about his mother, Princess Diana’s death and told Winfrey that his and Meghan’s life had been “unbelievably tough” but “at least we had each other” as he spoke of their decision to quit royal life and move to California.

In the second excerpt, Harry says he is grateful to have had Meghan’s support throughout his exit from royal life, while also expressing admiration for what his mother had to endure under similar circumstances.

He told the chat show host: “I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you, with my wife by my side, because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her, going through this process by herself, all those years ago”.

In the third, Oprah speaks about when she was approached the duchess for an interview ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, which Meghan was forced to decline.

“That wasn’t my choice to make,” Meghan said. “So, as an adult who lived a really independent life to then go into this construct that is ... different than I think what people imagine it to be, it’s really liberating to be able to have the right and the privilege in some ways to be able to say yes.”

What can we expect from the Oprah interview?

Meghan discussed topics ranging from "stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood (and) philanthropic work, to how she is handling life under intense public pressure," CBS said in a statement.

Harry also joins Meghan later on in the interview, to talk about their move to America, their family and what they plan to do in the future.

The couple also discuss Meghan’s pregnancy, after it was announced that they are expecting a second child, as well as Harry’s relationship with the rest of the Royal family.
