Oscar Cortes issues Rangers injury update as wingers looks to FINALLY shake off repeated woes
Crocked Rangers star Oscar Cortes appears to be edging closer to a return action after sharing a positive update on social media.
The Colombian winger - who rejoined the Gers on a season-long deal with an obligation to buy for £4million next summer - has not featured since appearing for the last 18 minutes in a 3-0 win against Dundee in the Premier Sports Cup on September 21. Cortes, 20, has been plagued by injuries in his time at Ibrox and missed the last three months of last season after suffering a muscle problem in a victory against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park back in February.
Cotes started the first game of the current campaign in a goalless draw with Hearts at Tynecastle but was forced off shorty after half-time with a knee injury that saw him miss the next six games. But taking to Instagram, the Colombia cap has posted a video of himself stepping up his work in the gym at The Rangers Training Centre along with the caption: "We continue". Cortes is one of four long-term absentees currently unavailable to Light Blues boss Philippe Clement.
Full back Ridvan Yilmaz, wide man Rabbi Matondo and attacking midfielder Tom Lawrence all remain on the treatment table, Turkey defender Yilmaz was named on the bench in the 1-1 draw away to Olympiacos in the Europa League but was then left out of the Rangers squad completely for the 1-0 win against Hearts before the international break, with his last outing for the club coming in the defeat to Dynamo Kyiv in qualifying for the Champions League in August.
Matondo has been out of action since limping off in the 3-0 loss to arch-rivals Rangers on September 1 while Lawrence, 30 also continues to be frustrated by repeated setbacks. The Wales international lasted just 36 minutes in the 2-1 win against Motherwell in the semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup on November 3 and is not expected to be fit again until mid-December.
