'Outrageous' Aston Villa star joins two Premier League rivals on elite list
Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene has made history after being nominated for the prestigious FIFA Puskas Award which selects the best goal in world football across the season.
The 22-year-old pulled off one of the goals of the century whilst on loan at Hull City last season, executing a nutmeg and a Cruyff-turn before picking out the top left corner with a beautiful right-footed 'rabona' strike from an incredibly tight angle against Rotherham United.
Philogene has been put up against Premier League rivals Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United and West Ham United's Mohammed Kudus for the award. He has also made history with his nomination with it being the first ever goal scored in the Championship to be shortlisted for the Puskas award.

Previous winners of the award include Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic so, should Philogene be triumphant, he would join esteemed company.
Initially, his strike back in February was given as an own goal due to a slight deflection off The Millers' Cameron Humphreys, but it was overturned much to the Villa man's delight.
Former Hull manager Liam Rosenior, who was Philogene's boss throughout the whole of his singular season with the Tigers, spoke glowingly of the goal at the time.
"We should give him the goal, we need to appeal to the FA for the outrageous piece of skill,” he said.
"Ridiculous, it's ridiculous... he is only going to get better the more games he plays."
The now-head coach of French side Strasbourg had a clear admiration for one of Unai Emery's brightest young stars.
"It is not just his goal or the showreel moments," Rosenior continued. "It is his energy levels for the team, he has a real belief, he can be a top player but the reason he can be a top player is because he works so hard on his game."
