Pacers' Paul George can't wait to rekindle 'special memories' with Lance Stephenson

Lance Stephenson is set to join the Pacers, and Paul George is excited for his return.

The Pacers haven't announced it yet, but reports say the team is set to sign Lance Stephenson in the near future. The electric guard departed Indiana for Charlotte in free agency a few years ago and was never able to return to what he was.

After bouncing around a few teams, Stephenson is ready to return, and his teammates are welcoming him with open arms.

“Lance is a ball player and he’s a guy that fits right in,” George said Wednesday, via the Indianapolis Star. “I think one area that we need and we’re lacking is a shot creator and a playmaker (in the second unit) and you’ve got a guy that can do both of those.”

George's comments stand out becausehe was extremely critical of his teammates just a day before. He blasted them by saying they have "no winning pride" and weren't "pissed off enough" after a loss to the Timberwolves.

Maybe Stephenson's arrival can energize the team into a winning attitude. George knows what his former teammate can bring, and he's clearly excited to have him back.

“We had a special memories,” George said.“We've definitely got a bond on that court. Hopefully we pick up where we left off. He’s excited. He’s always considered Indiana home, so he’s very excited to play with me and us again. This is where he made his name and made his mark. He’s got that in the back of his mind. He definitely thinks he can help this team.”

Stephenson and George, along with other players, made the Pacers aperennial threat in the East for years. But then players went their separate ways, and it really all started with Stephenson leaving. No one is expecting a huge impact right away, but his return could help a Pacers team that has struggled to find wins lately.
