Paige VanZant Wanted a New UFC Deal… She Got a New UFC Deal

Just three fights into her UFC tenure and Paige VanZant has the power to negotiate a new contract with the MMA juggernaut.

Undefeated in her first three trips to the Octagon and one of the promotion's fastest rising stars, VanZant still had one fight left on her current deal, but her manager, Mike Roberts of MMA Inc., told UFC Tonight on Wednesday that his client was hopeful of inking a new deal before inking her next fight.

As it happened, she did both at the same time.

“Just signed a new UFC deal and got my next fight lined up,” VanZant wrote Thursday on Twitter.

She didn't reveal whom she would be fighting next, but sitting at No. 6 in the UFC strawweight division, VanZant is sure to get a step up in competition.

Having only four professional bouts to her credit and being too young to compete on The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC started VanZant off slowly, but her star is rising at a meteoric pace.

VanZant stopped fellow debutant Kailin Curran in her first UFC bout, dominated veteran Felice Herrig in the sophomore effort, and then submitted Alex Chambers in her latest trip to the cage.

Frequently drawing comparisons to Ronda Rousey, VanZant, 21, has consistently stated that she is in no hurry to rush into a title fight, but she's most likely going to draw a top-name opponent in her next bout.
