The paper reports that Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao will join Roberto di Matteo's Blues in January after Roman Abramovich agreed to activate the player's eye-watering £46 million release clause to beat Manchester City to the deal..

Abramovich was convinced that the Colombian was his man by the manner in which the player tore up the Chelsea defence in a 4-1 European Super Cup thrashing before the start of the season.

Liverpool are in desperate need of another striker in January, and it seems that Newcastle's Demba Ba could be their man.

The Daily Mail reports that the Reds are ready to try and bring in the Senegalese front man in the new year by activating his £7m release clause - though Brendan Rodgers is still hoping to prise Korean star Son Heung-min away from Hamburg instead.

Arsenal misfit Marouane Chamakh looks set to be on his way out of the Emirates in the January transfer window, according to a report in The Sun.

Bordeaux are apparently willing to bring the 28-year-old back, so long as the Moroccan agrees to trim his £50,000-a-week wages.

Tottenham are keen on a £7.5m move for Borussia Moenchengladbach and Germany U21 star Patrick Hermann, according to The Sun.

And finally, Luis Suarez has hit out at FIFA vice president Jim Boyce after the Irishman criticised the Liverpool striker for his habit of falling over more easily than a new-born foal on a skating rink.

And brilliantly, Suarez's defence is not that he does not dive, but rather that he hadn't heard of Boyce and therefore his views are meaningless.

"This guy, I’ve no idea who he is," Suarez says in The Sun.

“I don’t know why he has been talking about me. He certainly can’t be well-known and he wants to get publicity."
