West Brom Fan View: Pardew now has two free hits to improve his West Brom team

Pardew needs results quickly.
Pardew needs results quickly.

Alan Pardew has only just been appointed West Bromwich Albion head coach, so the draw against Crystal Palace and the loss to Swansea City are forgivable, as long as he can keep the team in the Premier League at the end of the season.

However, Pardew now has a real problem. Obviously, he wants to find a way to get results quickly, but after failing to win two winnable fixtures in his first two games, he now faces the challenge of playing top quality teams over the next month.

The Baggies next two opponents in the league are Liverpool and Manchester United, but Albion also have to play both Arsenal and Manchester City just after Christmas. These are really tough fixtures in normal circumstances, but especially so when you are new at the club and trying to introduce a new playing style.

But there is room for optimism. Pardew could possibly write off the next two games and concentrate purely on coaching the players and trying to get them up to speed with how he wants his team to play. Then, if his team do manage to get a result, its a bonus.

Whether he can afford that luxury is debatable, but what is certain is that he needs results quickly in order to push this team up the table.

Fans won’t be too disappointed with losses to teams like Liverpool and Manchester United, but with teams like Everton, Stoke City and West Ham coming soon afterwards, fans will soon turn if no win is forthcoming. They are games we need to win if we are to retain our Premier League status.
