Three key members of Pardew's coaching staff - John Carver, Steve Stone and Andy Woodman - have also signed deals for the same duration.

The long-term deals are reward for Pardew, 51, and his team for not only re-establishing the Magpies in the Premier League following their promotion in 2010, achieved under previous manager Chris Hughton, but also for guiding them to fifth last season and subsequently a place in Europe.

Chief scout Graham Carr, who has earned a lot of plaudits for his part in the club recruiting talented players from Europe at low prices, was also handed an eight-year deal back in June.

Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias said: "If you look at clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have shown that stability gives you the best platform to achieve success, and that is the model we wish to emulate here.

"We're looking to build on the success we had last season and these new contracts are aimed at keeping the club progressing on and off the pitch, as we have done since returning to the Premier League in 2010.

"Alan has done a fantastic job over the last couple of years and has proved what a great Premier League manager he is. I have total respect for him in all football matters and have an excellent relationship with him which I think benefits the club enormously."

Pardew's appointment in December 2010 attracted plenty of criticism as it came after the sacking of Hughton, the manager who took the reins when the club was relegated in 2009 and led them straight back up to the Premier League as champions.

When he was hired, Pardew was signed to a five-year contract, and several of the club's key players are also committed to similar deals.
