Striker Jon Parkin started just five matches for the Bluebirds and scored two goals

Jon Parkin has left Cardiff City after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old striker, who also enjoyed spells with Hull, Macclesfield and Stoke, joined the Bluebirds from Preston for £100,000 in January 2011 but started just five matches, scoring twice.

A statement on Cardiff's website read: "We would like to thank Jon for his contribution to the club during his time in South Wales and wish him the best of luck in the future."

Parkin made only two appearances for the Bluebirds last season before loan spells with Doncaster, Huddersfield and a successful stint with Scunthorpe, where he scored six goals in 14 games.
