Parrott falls in opening qualifier

Former world champion John Parrott fell in the opening round of qualifying for the Snooker World Championship in Sheffield.


Parrott, the 1991 champion, was thrashed 5-0 by Patrick Wallace at the English Institute of Sport to see his hopes of making it into the main draw evaporate.

Wallace then made it into the third qualifying round with a 5-2 win over Joe Delaney.

Phillip Minchin and David Gray were among those who also fell at the opening hurdle.
