Good news Kansas City Chiefs fans, Patrick Mahomes has been cleared to get back on the field.

At a press conference on Friday, the quarterback said that he was out of concussion protocol and would face off against the Buffalo Bills in Sunday's AFC Championship.

"There's been a bunch of testing, a bunch of different things to make sure that I'm good to go and there's no lingering effects or anything like that,'' Mahomes told reporters. "You want to be out there but you have to go through the protocol and you have to do everything the right way. You have to look at it long-term as much as you look at it short-term.''

"Talking to all of the doctors and going through all of the testing, we have the belief that I'll have no lingering effects and I'll be able to go out there and be who I am,'' he added, according to ESPN. "Luckily enough, I haven't had any symptoms and I'm able to play.''

Mahomes previously joined his team for practices in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday before clearing concussion protocol.

During last week's divisional-round playoff game, Mahomes struggled to stand on his feet after Cleveland Browns' Mack Wilson tackled him to the ground. The athlete was helped off the field before he made his way to the locker room.

Chiefs backup quarterback Chad Henne replaced Mahomes for the remainder of the game, helping lead the team to a 22-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
