Patrick Vieira demands more from Crystal Palace team as lack of firepower proves costly again

Patrick Vieira is desperate to see his Crystal Palace side score more goals.

The Eagles, who rank amongst the lowest scorers in the Premier League, mustered only three shots on target during Saturday’s defeat at Manchester United.

Vieira was keen to bring in more firepower during the January transfer window but no such reinforcement arrived, with the club opting to strengthen central in midfield instead.

While both Naouirou Ahamada and Albert Sambi Lokonga made their debuts at Old Trafford, Vieira will be missing top scorer Wilfried Zaha for the next “couple of weeks” at the very least after the forward suffered a hamstring injury last month.

Palace now have only one win in their last six League games, scoring just five times during that run, and head into Saturday’s derby with Brighton in poor form.

Speaking after Saturday’s defeat, Vieira said: “We are not winning games and we don’t score enough goals.

"We need to score goals to allow us to win games. This is something we have to improve.”
