Patterson goes 3-4 in Eagles 8-6 win over Chapel Hill

Mar. 12—NEW CHAPEL HILL — Alex Patterson went 3-4 with a double and drove in three runs and Rusk returned home with an 8-6 victory over Chapel Hill Monday.

The Eagles (8-7-2) racked up 11 hits in the non-district outing compared to the Bulldogs' four.

Other hitting leaders for the Eagles included Mason Trowbridge (2-3, home run, 3 RBI), Tilton Beard (double, single, 2 RBI) and Noah Acker (single, RBI).

Clay Giesler and Ethan Foster gave Rusk a formidable one, two punch on the mound.\

Giesler, who collected the win, worked 3.2 innings and gave up three runs, one of which was earned, off of three hits. He struck out two Bulldogs and walked an equal number.

Foster recorded eight strike outs in 3.1 innings. He didn't allow a run and surrendered one hit.

A bust week of baseball continues for the Red and Black, who are scheduled to host Cumberland Academy at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and visit Lindale Wednesday for a 7 p.m. affair.
