Paul Daley Will Get His Chance to Knock Rory MacDonald Out in London

Paul Daley will get the fight he wanted, welcoming Rory MacDonald to the Bellator cage in May.

Officials on Thursday announced that Daley vs. MacDonald would headline Bellator 179 on May 19 at SSE Arena, Wembley in London.

Daley (39-14-2) called for the fight with MacDonald following his recent stunning flying-knee knockout of Brennan Ward at Bellator 170 in January.

“If Rory MacDonald gets in the cage with me, he’s getting knocked the (expletive) out,” Daley declared.

He’ll now get the opportunity to welcome the former UFC welterweight title contender to Bellator, and he’ll get to do so on his home turf.

MacDonald (18-4) enters the Bellator cage having lost his last two UFC bouts to Stephen Thompson and Robbie Lawler, which effectively knocked him several steps back from future contention.

Having completed his UFC contract, MacDonald decided to test the free agent waters. In August of last year, he inked a deal with Bellator, where he intends to compete at welterweight and middleweight.

It will have been nearly a year since he last fought when MacDonald steps into the Bellator 179 welterweight main event, while Daley has fought twice during that span.

More Bellator 179 bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
