Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Lee Grant and Nemanja Matic have all left Old Trafford as the clearout continues in the red half of Manchester.

An overhaul of talent at the club is much needed following one of the worst Premier League seasons in Manchester United's history.

The Red Devils finished sixth, with their lowest points total since 1989/90. Back then, United finished 13th, but they at least went on to claim the FA Cup - one trophy more than the club have won in the last five years.

With changes desperately needed at Old Trafford, Planet Sport takes a look at a host of other names who could be on their way out.

Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford's contract expires on June 30, 2023, although there is a one-year extension which can be triggered.

The 24-year-old's future at Old Trafford has been up in the air after last season posting his lowest goalscoring return since he first stepped into the first team.

Rashford scored just five goals in 32 appearances across all competitions - with four of them coming in the Premier League.

One thing is for sure, if Rashford is on his way out, expect a lot of clubs to be in the hunt for his signature, both at home and abroad.

Dean Henderson

While Manchester United's struggles have continued, one man who has remained in impervious form is David de Gea. That is certainly bad news for Dean Henderson, who despite his obvious qualities, can hardly get any game time. With that in mind, don't be surprised to see a summer deal for the Man United number two. One team closely linked with the 25-year-old is Newcastle.

Eric Bailly

Eric Bailly has endured yet another forgettable season at Old Trafford. In three years, the player has made just 20 Premier League appearances - that's 20 games out of a possible 114. The club gave Bailly a new contract in April 2021, but don't expect the player to see out his time in Manchester. The only real problem could be finding a new club for the 28-year-old.

Phil Jones

Over the last three seasons, Phil Jones has made a mere 13 appearances across all competitions.

The 30-year-old, once touted as the next big thing by Sir Alex Ferguson, is heading into the final year of his contract.

However, with Ten Hag prioritising defence during the transfer window, the axe could fall before the expiry date on Jones' deal.

Mason Greenwood

Uncertainty regarding Mason Greenwood's future is likely to continue into the 2022/23 season.

The striker was first arrested on January 30 on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman. The 20-year-old is currently suspended by Manchester United.

The player is on conditional bail and that won't change until his next court hearing takes place - according to the Greater Manchester Police, that could be sometime in June.

Alex Telles

FC Porto have recently shown interest in their former man Alex Telles.

The Brazilian was signed two years ago by United in order to replace the struggling Luke Shaw. However, the England international was quick to turn his form around and Telles was left twiddling his thumbs.

However, Telles also improved and went from making nine Premier League appearances in his first season to 21 the following year.

With new boss Ten Hag keen to put his own stamp on the squad, Telles might be one of the players who is moved on. Unless, of course, he is happy playing second fiddle.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Here's another player whose future at Old Trafford is under scrutiny.

The 24-year-old joined Manchester United for £50million back in 2019, but according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, new boss Ten Hag is leaning towards Diogo Dalot as his preferred right-back. Question is, would Wan-Bissaka accept a second-choice role at Manchester United?

Anthony Martial

There's no question that Anthony Martial is a special talent. However, with the player scoring a mere nine goals in 59 appearances, it would appear that his time at Manchester United has run its course. The Frenchman was loaned out to Sevilla in January but after scoring just one goal in 12 outings, the Spanish outfit are no longer interested in making the move permanent. In truth, there are two options. Either Martial enjoys a tremendous turnaround in form under Ten Hag, or the club bites a major financial bullet and allows the striker to move on.

The list is endless

Manchester United's Axel Tuanzebe

While we have listed eight players potentially facing the axe ahead of the next Premier League campaign, in truth there are more names whose futures are from secure.

Axel Tuanzebe, for instance, just can't get a look in, whether that's at Manchester United or away on loan.

The player only has one season with ten or more league games under his belt - that came in the 2018/19 campaign when he played 25 Championship games for Aston Villa.

Another man under the microscope is Andreas Pereira. According to recent reports, Ten Hag is willing to give the 26-year-old midfielder a chance to impress. The Brazilian has been playing a lot more football at Lazio and Flamengo when out on loan than he has at Manchester United. But perhaps the lifeline from Ten Hag could give him a new lease of life. One way or another, these next six months are likely to make or break Pereira's Manchester United career. Amad Diallo cost the Red Devils a reported £34million back in 2020, yet the 19-year-old has yet to display his qualities for the first team. Diallo moved on loan to Rangers during the 2021/22 campaign, but only made 13 appearances during his five months there. Perhaps another season in Scotland is the way to go. It certainly beats sitting on the bench at Old Trafford. James Garner is certainly not on his way out of Manchester United, but just like Amad Diallo, he could face another loan move. The youngster has spent the last two years at Nottingham Forest, where he featured prominently as Steve Cooper's side won promotion to the Premier League. Another year on loan before finally joining United's first team looks the most likely scenario for the 21-year-old. Hannibal Mejbri, who was recently involved in a training ground bust-up, and Tahith Chong, who is in the final year of his contract, also fall into the uncertainty camp.
