Paul Pogba gets ‘Super Saiyan’ haircut – but is it a homage to an MLS player?

Paul Pogba has revealed the latest in a long line of bold haircuts, this time seemingly inspired by Dragon Ball Z.

A picture posted on his official Instagram on Monday morning shows him with a blonde mohawk with an intricate blonde trim in homage to ‘Super Saiyan’, the transformation undergone by the protagonists of the Dragon Ball Z franchise.

According to the caption, the blue streak is a tribute to the French national team, Les Bleus.

Pogba was on the bench this weekend as United beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 in the FA Cup, so his trip to the barber’s may have been intended as a morale booster.

Some have noticed the similarity between his new trim and that of Montreal Impact forward Dominic Oduro, who tweeted a snap of his own Super Saiyan-themed haircut over the weekend. Oduro, a veteran of the MLS, has often been compared to Pogba because of his own predilection for eye-catching ‘dos.

Homage to Oduro?

It’s not clear whether Pogba intended to nod to Oduro’s haircut but, either way, the pair will be sporting similar styles next weekend.

No doubt the ‘cares more about his hair than football’ crowd will be outraged, not that Pogba and Oduro are remotely bothered about what they think.
