Jadon Sancho impressed fans and colleagues with another impressive performance in Chelsea’s 4-2 victory against Brighton on Saturday evening.

The winger provided a smart assist for Cole Palmer's fourth goal with a reverse pass on which Palmer capitalised shooting hard and low to the front post giving Mark Verbruggen no chance.

The assist added to Sancho’s previous two-goal involvements; bringing his tally to three in three games since arriving on loan from Manchester United in the summer.

Fans inside Stamford Bridge were visibly impressed by the Englishman’s contribution but former United teammate Paul Pogba gave his seal of approval with a one-word Instagram comment, simply saying: “Him.” The pair were briefly teammates at Old Trafford during the 2021/22 season.

Several other notable names weighed in with congratulations for Sancho including Borussia Dortmund and England youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Chelsea teammate Tosin Adarabioyo who said: “Another one.”

Despite the off-field question marks ahead of this campaign, Enzo Maresca’s side have cut an exciting outfit going forward - scoring 15 goals, the most in the league - however, defensively they are not the most convincing - which was further apparent when Robert Sanchez gifted Brighton two goals yesterday.

After the match, Sancho spoke to Chelsea.com, he said: “We kept working hard, we stuck to the game plan even when we went behind so early on, and we knew that if we did this then we would get chances in front of goal.

“Then it would just be up to us to take them, which we did – well, Cole did!

“When you have a player in your team like Cole Palmer, then anything is possible. I’ve known Cole a long time, since our days together at City. I’ve always watched him and I always thought he would go on to be a great player. He’s showing that now at Chelsea.

“We see what he’s capable of each day in training, we see the quality he has and honestly, it’s no real surprise to me to see him score four goals.”

He continued, mentioning how it felt being warmly received by the fans of the club he supported as a child: “It was a great feeling [to get a standing ovation from the fans] and my family and friends were in the crowd for the game, so that made it extra special.

“I’m happy to have been able to assist for goals in recent games, I’m settling in well here and I just want to keep this momentum going and keep being able to assist my team-mates. Or even get a first goal, that would be nice!”

Next up, Chelsea will play host to Gent in their UEFA Europa Conference League opener on Thursday, October 3 before the visit of Nottingham Forest three days later.
