A 40-year-old man is in hospital with what police are calling serious injuries, following a crash near Ventnor.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was called to Whitwell Road at 1.18am this morning.

The collision involved a motorbike and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man from Southampton, suffered serious injuries, police said.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance airlifted him to Southampton General Hospital for treatment, where he remains.
