Pedro Martinez Losa leaves Scotland Women's managerial post amid EURO 2025 qualification failure
The Scottish FA have confirmed the departure of Pedro Martinez Losa as Scotland Women’s National Team Head Coach after failing to qualify for the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championships.
Martinez Losa, 48, had previously spent time at Arsenal Women and Bordeaux Women, before taking the job in Scotland back in July 2021. The Spaniard has spent just over three years at the helm, and although he failed to qualify for the 2023 World Cup after losing a play-off final against the Republic of Ireland, he signed a new contract until 2025.
The Madrid-born gaffer saw promotion to Nations League Group A, but with the board feeling that change is required after losing 2-0 on aggregate to Finland in the play-offs earlier this month, Martinez Losa has been relieved of his duties - especially with the qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup fast approaching.

Ian Maxwell, Chief Executive of the SFA, said: “I would like to thank Pedro for his efforts over the past three and a half years. While we shouldn’t lose sight of the recent unbeaten run, and winning promotion from Nations League Group B, the primary objective was to qualify for a major tournament again.”
And the Spaniard gave his farewell notes, adding: “I am immensely proud of the journey we have undertaken as a group and it has been a privilege to lead the Scotland Women’s National Team. Watching young talent flourish alongside our experienced players has been a highlight of my time here.
“I leave with fond memories and gratitude to my squad, backroom staff, and the passionate supporters, who have been unwavering in their backing. Scotland will always hold a special place in my heart, and I wish the team every success in the future.”
