Pedrosa: Honda making genuine progress

Dani Pedrosa believes Honda is making genuine progress at Assen after he qualified second for the Dutch TT behind team-mate Casey Stoner, and pushed Jorge Lorenzo's Yamaha back to third.

Honda has been struggling with chatter problems all season, and these worsened when Bridgestone introduced a new specification of front tyre. While Stoner and Pedrosa grappled with this issue, Lorenzo won three straight races and pulled away in the championship fight.

Pedrosa said that while the chatter problems were not cured, Honda was definitely in better shape in the Netherlands than it had been at Silverstone.

"We did some changes on the bike and it seems a little bit better," he said. "The feeling is a little bit improved from the last race.

"We are still trying to fix a lot of the chattering problems, it's a big deal."

Honda's difficulties have been more evident in the races, and Pedrosa said he was hoping to see improvement on Saturday as well.

"We are focusing on the race," he said.

"The front row here is always important as the first area is always tight. It's an important race tomorrow and I hope to do well."
