Pellinen wins in Branas

Finland's Jouni Pellinen claimed his first Ski Cross World Cup podium of the season as he won in Branas, Sweden.


The 28-year-old won all four of his races en route to topping the podium in Branas, holding off the competition of Filip Flisar and Andreas Matt in the Big Final, with the pair having to settle for second and third respectively.

Canadian Brady Leman finished just off the podium in fourth but is still celebrating as he took the overall World Cup lead.

With just two events remaining Leman is sitting pretty at the top on 425 points, with Switzerland’s Alex Fiva slipping to second on 418 points after finishing seventh in Branas, with Filip Flisar sitting third on 382.

Meanwhile, in the women’s event Canadian Marielle Thompson now leads the overall World Cup standings thanks to gold in Branas.

Thompson won all three of her races for victory, taking maximum points to climb to the top of the standings on 490 points.

Ophelle David took bronze in Sweden and now sits second, ten points behind Thompson with two events left.

And completing the podium was Switzerland’s Emillie Serain who took silver with her first podium finish of the season.
