Pendleside Hospice presented with £7,000 cheque from Pendle Powerfest

Pendle Powerfest team have handed over a cheque for £7,000 to Pendleside Hospice.

The money was raised on May 29 at their first Powerfest car show since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

They had more than 200 cars on display, entertainment for adults and children and lots of activities going on.

They held a raffle, which was drawn by Pendleside mascot, Penny the Squirrel, which included many donated prizes including a campervan holiday and supercar driving experience.

On the day, a team of staff and volunteers from Pendleside also held a stall selling refreshments and sold raffle tickets for the current car raffle and a tombola, which raised £1,098 in total.

Sammi Graham, head of marketing and events at Pendleside Hospice, said: “We were so chuffed to be selected as charity of the year by the Pendle Powerfest team.

"All of the group, who are voluntary, put a lot of hard work and effort into making it a huge success.

"Thousands of individuals and families came down to enjoy the event and had a great time.

"The total received by Pendleside is £8,098 which is amazing and I’m told the most which has ever been raised for charity at a Powerfest event.

"I’d like to thank all the team and everyone who came long on the day."

Next year's event will take place on Sunday, May 28, 2023, and people can keep up to date with plans on Pendle Powerfest's Facebook page.
