Harry Winks would be an ideal fit for West Ham, who should snap up the struggling Tottenham star this summer, according to one pundit.

The 26-year-old has endured a mixed career at Spurs and his future now looks like it lies elsewhere. He starred under Mauricio Pochettino and did so again at the start of Antonio Conte’s reign at manager.

However, the 10-cap England international is now fighting a losing battle for a role in Conte’s team. Indeed, Spurs have agreed a deal to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

As such, a host of Premier League clubs have had links with signing Winks this summer.

Newcastle were one of the first, while Everton are reportedly eyeing up a loan swoop after learning Tottenham’s valuation.

According to Gabby Agbonlahor, though, West Ham should be in the mix to sign Winks to help him revive his career. The pundit also spoke of the further impact Bissouma will have on Tottenham’s midfield pecking order.

“He’s got to go,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider of Winks.

“You look at Bissouma coming in. That means they’re going to have Hojbjerg on the bench.

“Winks is never going to get a game. Sometimes you’ve got to leave for your own career. Go to another Premier League club and go and play some football.

“Maybe West Ham and go and play some football. At one time he was getting England call-ups and now he rarely plays. It would be the perfect fit.”

Winks exit becoming more obvious

Winks played 19 Premier League games last term, but more came from the bench than from the start.

He only has two years left on his contract, so a Spurs decision on his future is due soon anyway regardless of any interest in him.

The midfielder has played 202 games for Spurs but his days there could be numbered.

Winks began to struggle for game time this season once Rodrigo Bentancur arrived from Juventus in January.

Indeed, it is not just Bissouma’s arrival that has risen the doubt over Winks’ future.

He still has a lot of potential having got onto the international stage and needs to move on to get back to his best.
