Peter Schmeichel says he was so BORED covering Man City that he tried to tune into Celtic's rip-roaring Champions League win instead.

The Manchester United legend was at the Etihad for CBS Sports covering City's goalless draw with Inter Milan on matchday one. But Schmeichel SLATED the atmosphere at the home of the Premier League champions as Pep Guardiola's side failed to find a breakthrough. He said: '"I thought it was a really, really boring game. I'm sorry to say that. I thought Inter did really well in stopping Man City.

"I like good football and I like excitement from the crowd. It was dead. The Etihad today was absolutely dead. The only people we could hear were the Inter supporters who were quite good. But there's no atmosphere in the Etihad today. Normally you'd think 'well, a big European night', but it didn't happen for them."

It was a completely different story just 200 miles up the road as Celts thrashed sorry Slovan Bratislava 5-1 at Parkhead. Schmeichel's son, Kasper, was in goals for Celts as the Denmark No1 got his first taste of a European night in Glasgow's east end. And speaking to Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards afterwards, the 60-year-old admitted he's smitten with Celtic.

He said: "I'm going to let you in a secret. I spent a lot of time during the first-half trying to connect to something that would make me watch that game as well. The wifi isn't great here. I was reading on live commentary all the way throughout the game."

After being treated to the highlights, he reacted: "I've been dying to see this - and what a handsome fella he is! I've been watching every Celtic game apart from this one and they've got a lot of really good players. They've got a lot of pace up front, they've got the three Japanese players who are so fantastic and they've got Kuhn on the righthand side.

"The pace they have is incredible and the test is, of course, can they transfer the form they have from the Scottish league to the Champions League. Slovan Bratislava isn't a great team but today was a really, really good test for them.

"Can they go up against a weaker team and produce the same kind of form? 5-1 is a great result. Next time, it's Dortmund and Kate - I'm going to be there! I have got permission to not be, not in the yellow wall, it's going to be in the green wall."
