PGA Championship betting: Bettors like Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth

Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth are the preferred choices of bettors ahead of the PGA Championship.

Scheffler is the co-favorite with Jon Rahm at +1200 at BetMGM and nearly 15% of the money wagered on the winner of the tournament is on the Masters champion. Scheffler is the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Rankings thanks to his wins at the WM Phoenix Open, Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Masters so far in 2022.

Scheffler is the second-most bet player at 8.7% of bets and just behind Spieth at +1600. Spieth is getting 8.8% of bets to win the tournament and those bets make up just under 12% of the handle. No other player in the field is getting more than 6% of the money wagered on the winner.

A win this weekend for Spieth would give him the career grand slam. He has won the Masters (2015), U.S. Open (2015) and the British Open (2017) but is still searching for his first PGA title. He finished second at the 2015 PGA Championship to Jason Day and was three shots away from winning three majors in the same season.

Tiger getting 6% of bets

Tiger Woods ranks No. 3 among most-bet golfers this weekend as 6% of tickets and 5.6% of the handle is on him to win. Woods’ odds are at +6600 as he plays his second tournament of the season and his second tournament since his 2021 car crash. Woods is the biggest liability in BetMGM history and a 16th major title for the golf icon would mean the sportsbook would post its biggest single event loss ever.

No other golfer is getting over 5% of bets to win. Collin Morikawa (+2000), Justin Thomas (+1600) and Hideki Matsuyama (+2500) are each getting just over 4% of wagers.

Outside of Woods, Max Homa is the long shot getting the most action to win the tournament. Homa has the same odds as Woods and he’s getting 2.6% of bets. Cameron Young at +8000 is getting 1.6% of wagers while Billy Horschel at +10000 is getting 1.2% of bets.

The field is pretty bunched up behind Scheffler, Spieth and Morikawa. There are 14 golfers getting between 2% and 5% of the total tickets on the winner of the tournament.
