Raging Rangers fans unleashed on Philippe Clement's decision to hook Connor Barron during their clash with Hearts.

It was a nervy clash between the Scottish Premiership side with the Light Blues holding a narrow 1-0 lead after Cyriel Dessers goal early in the clash in Govan - with the Belgian boss turning to his bench in the second half in an attempt to steady the ship amid mounting pressure from the Jambos. Barron was sacrificed as he trudged off the pitch alongside Rangers captain James Tavernier to be replaced by Dujon Sterling and Neraysho Kasanwirjo after 68 minutes.

But the call from Clement was met with an angry reception from the stands as audible booing was picked up by TV cameras as midfielder Barron turned to the crowd and applauded before high-fiving his replacement Sterling. Discussing the decision to take off Tavernier and Barron on Premier Sports, former Hearts man Michael Stewart said: "The one that is most surprising is that Connor Barron has been taken off.

"You have heard a lot about the sports scientists and I wonder if it's just the load and trying to take some of it off. I am looking at someone like Diomande and thinking he has not been involved as much in the make up of the game."
