Philippe Clement responds to John Bennett Rangers departure after chairman stepped down
Philippe Clement has paid tribute to John Bennett after the Rangers chairman opted to step down from the role due to health reasons.
The club confirmed the chief had decided to leave after nine years in a position of power at Ibrox in what came as a somewhat surprising revelation this weekend. Clement has worked closely with Bennett during his time as manager and spent a lot of time during the transfer window working to bring players in.
Now the Belgian has thanked Bennett for his contributions and his support over the last 18 months and told of his desire for the businessman to focus on health first.

"We worked from the beginning together of course and I heard him also this week, I think I was one of the first people who knew. Because of his illness and the situation it was in the moment to make that decision so it's a pity for the club because it's someone with a big heart for Rangers and living day and night for Rangers.
"But health is the most important thing in life, that's clear, so we wish him all the best, but he knows."
