Philippe Clement tells Rangers fans 'you don't know everything' as boo boys put right over Barron sub reaction
Philippe Clement understands why Rangers fans made their feelings heard after he subbed off Connor Barron - but told the Ibrox boo boys 'you don't know everything.'
Clement's team edged to a 1-0 win over Hearts through Cyriel Dessers' early goal and it means they end a big week with three points that ensure no more ground is lost on their title rivals. But under the surface it was another nervy performance and dissent was simmering in the stands as they struggled to take control in the second half.
That briefly boiled over when the board went up to signal Barron and James Tavernier were being hooked. Loud boos were picked up by TV cameras, punters feeling Barron had been one of their better players and didn't deserve to be pulled off for the final 20 minutes. Michael Stewart also questioned it on commentary, but Barron played 90 minutes against Motherwell last weekend and again against Olympiacos during the week. And Clement felt he was overdue due a rest.
Asked about the angry reaction on Premier Sports, he said: "They don't know everything, of course. I'm very pleased about Connor and what he is doing. He's been massive. But it's managing players who are getting tired and who have never played so many minutes in their career at this level.
"It's managing Connor in that way. The fans will be less pleased if he gets injured because he has played too much or too long. I understand that fans don't know all the facts."
