Kris Boyd has dismissed Philippe Clement's two big gripes in the wake of Rangers' hard-fought win over Hibs.

Gers were fortunate to end the afternoon with all three points after the visitors missed a penalty and then failed to take their chances in the second-half. There was a nervous atmosphere inside Ibrox with anxious fans venting their fury, prompting Vaclav Cerny to snap back at the home crowd's groans.

And while Clement admitted it wasn't a vintage display, the Gers boss aimed a swipe at the earlier 12noon kick-off time after his side's Thursday night Europa League heroics in Malmo. The Belgian was also adamant that John Souttar was unfairly penalised as Hibs were awarded a spotkick, only for Jack Butland to save Mykola Kuharevich's weak effort.

But ex-Light Blues goal machine Boyd reckons Clement's complaints are invalid. Firstly analysing the penalty, the Sky Sports pundit said: "His arm comes up and then it hits him. It's a penalty all day long. If you flip it the other way and it was at the other end then Philippe Clement would be saying it's a penalty kick."

James McFadden also agreed, saying: "I get what he's trying to say but I think when you put your arm up and puts it higher as the ball's hit, then for me, it's a penalty kick."

Boyd also rubbished Clement's issues with the early kick-off time and reminded the Belgian he wouldn't be juggling a Thursday-Sunday schedule had he led the team into the Champions League.

Boyd continued: "I know he's having a little pop at the scheduling there as well, listen that's what happens when you're in Europe. That's life. As difficult as it is, but if you want to be successful, you're going to have to play.

"Well, if you were successful, you would be playing either Tuesday or Wednesday and then you would've had Saturday off. You weren't, you were knocked out of the Champions League and are in the Europa. It's a competition over a number of years that Rangers have participated in, so you should be used to it."
