It’s been a grim week for Philippe Coutinho according to the Catalan press, with the Barcelona midfielder reportedly having his car towed and house burgled in quick succession.

According to Catalan outlet Sport, his Audi Q7 was towed away after it was parked illegally near the Sagrada Familia on Monday, this while he was out sightseeing with family and friends. Coutinho and co. were forced to take a taxi home before he decided to head out for dinner.

Inauspicious week

When he returned in the early hours of Tuesday morning, he reportedly found that his home had been broken into and a number of his belongings stolen. The police were called and analysed the house for clues, with their investigation ongoing.

Coutinho is ineligible to play for Barcelona in the Champions League having already featured for Liverpool in the competition, so his Barca teammates have travelled to London without him to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

That at least gives him some time to address his break-in, though it isn’t exactly ideal preparation for next weekend’s game against Girona.

The former Liverpool star was dropped from the starting line-up for Barcelona’s La Liga match against Eibar on Saturday. The latest incidents will only compound the sense that it has been an inauspicious start for the man who cost the Blaugrana £142m in January.
