Crewe goalkeeper Steve Phillips is eager to extend his stay with the club for both professional and personal reasons.
Manager Steve Davis has stated he wants to give Alex's leading performers new contracts and Phillips' impressive form in recent weeks means he could be one of those in contention.
The 33-year-old would welcome such a reward as his family are settled in Cheshire and further time with the Railwaymen might help further his coaching ambitions, having already started to plan for life after retirement by working with youngsters at Liverpool.
"We'll wait and see if I'm in that category and if I am I'd be quite happy," he said.
"It's a good club, it's got great facilities and we're going in the right direction.
"It's got a good academy and obviously with the Premier League changing the academies structure around I'd like to get involved with that. I'm at Liverpool at the moment doing a lot of coaching there as well so it's something that I'd be very interested in doing."
