Piers Morgan dismisses Ant McPartlin as a 'dog walker' and calls for Ant and Dec split

Piers Morgan has ripped into his NTA rival Ant McPartlin once again. Morgan has said ‘dog walker’ McPartlin doesn’t deserve to win a National Television Award, as he’s been absent from television for the majority of last year.

“How did you get a nom? I’m sorry but how did that happen. Dec, sure he’s put a shift in. Us, hundreds of days at the coal face,” lamented Morgan.

Good Morning Britain has been nominated for best Daytime show while Ant and Dec are up for best TV Presenter at Tuesday night’s award ceremony.

McPartlin was mostly absent from the limelight in 2018, after being arrested for drink-driving and seeking rehab treatment for substance abuse.

“Imagine if Ant McPartlin actually wins tonight and we don’t, walking the dog for a year, television personality of the year,” Morgan continued.

“Me, coal face every morning hours on end, week after week, nothing. Imagine if you think it’s a reasonable way to conduct the award seasons business, seriously.

“If so next year I will take the day off every day and walk my dog. I don’t even have a dog. I intend to do that if I can find a dog,” he said.

And Morgan was far from done there. He even called for Ant & Dec, who have been performing together since 1989, to split up.

“Ant has put a really big shift in this last year. He deserves it,” he joked.

“Or just Dec and split them up. That would be funny. Everyone would be like ‘we’re going to vote for the one that did all the work’.”

The GMB host and former Daily Mirror editor has made it abundantly clear that Good Morning Britain deserves an NTA this year.

He has said he will go vegan if he wins and may even take a whole year off of work.

Susanna Reid has also vowed to break her alcohol-free diet if they win and get ‘hammered.’

As for if he loses, he said on Tuesday morning that he would respond with ‘uncontrolled violence.’

“What I will be doing, is if we do lose, there’s gonna be an incident live on television of uncontrolled violence,” he said.

The National Television Awards is on Tuesday evening on ITV from 7.30pm.
