Piers Morgan says he needs to be 'shamed' into losing weight as he defends Kevin Pieterson's comments
Piers Morgan says he needs to be “shamed” into losing weight after cricketer Kevin Pieterson said the broadcaster had put on a few pounds over lockdown.
On today’s Good Morning Britain, Morgan and his co-host Susanna Reid admitted to putting on weight after Morgan’s friend Pieterson tweeted about his size.
Pieterson wrote: “Very good 5 minutes on @GMB there talking about the benefits of weight loss and being healthy.
“Maybe @piersmorgan should practice what he preaches?”
He continued: “Maybe if he wasn’t so FAT(and we know that’s a type of person Covid hits), he’d STOP his scare-mongering?”

Reid questioned their friendship, saying: “You have a very weird friendship. Honestly, I appreciate my friends giving me advice but to call you fat.”
When Reid asked how much weight Morgan put on, he said: “At least half a stone to three-quarters of a stone,” to which Reid replied: “I put on a stone.”
Morgan then insisted: “I need to be shamed into getting [the weight] off.”
In jest, Reid exclaimed: “Yes you fat person, lose the weight. I mean it’s about time chubster, honestly.”
Morgan was momentarily speechless, but then told Reid he agreed with her, to which she said: “I don’t.”
She continued: “It brings me out in hives just saying it!”
“That will genuinely have the right effect on me,” said Morgan.
“I will go back today, I will probably eat less cheese, put that second bottle away and get back on the Peloton."
