The PGA Tour announced Monday that Belgian Thomas Pieters and Englishmen Tyrrell Hatton and Tommy Fleetwood accepted special temporary membership for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.
The Tournow has 88 international members from 23 countries outside the United States.
Pieters, 25, has two top-5 finishes — a T2 at the Genesis Open and a T5 at the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship — in six starts this season.With his finish in Mexico, Pieters earned 110 FedExCup points, taking his total to 416, surpassing the points earned by the player at No. 150 in last season’s FedExCup standings and making him eligible for temporary membership.
Hatton, 25, and Fleetwood, 26,became eligible thanks to strong finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitation and theWorld Golf Championships-Mexico Championship.
There was some talk about U.S. crowds becoming too rowdy towards some of the European golfers. That seems to have been over blown, however, considering the Tour just snatched up three of the game's most elite European talents.
The trio will be are eligible for unlimited sponsor exemptions for the remainder of the 2016-17 season as they attempt to earn Tour cards for the 2017-18 season.
