Pirates' Antonio Bastardo helps save bird struck during batting practice

Josh Bell struck a bird during batting practice Wednesday and some of his teammates helped rescue it.

Pirates relief pitcher Antonio Bastardo and outfielders Starling Marte and Gregory Polanco helped save a bird Wednesday after teammate Josh Bell hit it with a ball, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette .

Bastardo, who held the bird like it was a hot dog, said the animal was"disorientated" after getting hit.

Pittsburgh (3-4) hosts the Reds (6-2)Wednesday night in an attempt to get back to .500 for the season.
