The record of 336 league games is jointly held by Brazilian Ze Roberto and Georgia's Levan Kobiashvili, neither of whom currently play in the top German division.

Peruvian Pizarro, who returned to Bayern this season after four years at Werder Bremen and a two-year spell at Chelsea, already holds the Bundesliga record for the all-time best foreign striker with 160 goals.

Meanwhile, Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes is refusing to confirm whether or not new €40million signing Javi Martinez will be handed a starting role in Saturday's match.

"I'm not going to make that decision just yet. The line-up depends on a number of factors," said Heynckes. "First, I'll have to check out the internationals when they come back. Then I have to consider how we want to play against Valencia the following Wednesday. But we have quite a few options.

"He's doing very well. Javi is outgoing and communicative, a relaxed character and a guy everyone likes straight away. He also speaks relatively good English, and he can speak Spanish to a few of the other players, which makes things a little easier for him. Also he's prepared outstandingly well."
