Player agent Craig Harrison has revealed the story behind Jake Trueman’s move to Hull FC.

Trueman, 23, will make the move to the MKM Stadium side on a three-year deal from next season. He has played his last game for the Castleford, having suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

Speaking on Inside The Deal, Harrison discussed the move and why it was time for the half-back to move on to a new club.

He said: “We probably decided two or three years ago that we told Castleford that we’d do another deal but that would be the last one.

“I’m saying this respectfully, but I thought that Truey [Trueman] would become at a salary price which would be, I’m not saying Cas can’t afford it, but I knew financially I think it had to be the right deal.

‘He’s absolutely loved it at Cas’

“I thought Truey would need to go somewhere where he could test himself again. We went to Cas at the age of 17 and it cost them nothing. There was no compensation on his deal. To walk in with Jake Trueman and to give him the deal they did was unbelievable. He did it because of Daryl, because of the club, because of Mark and how they sold themselves.

“Luke Gale played a part, too. He met him at the gates and spoke to his dad, and was very complimentary.

“He’s absolutely loved it at Cas.

“I thought Truey’s earning potential, we never did anything for money at Cas. But this one had to be financial. There was interest a year before, people wanting to pay money for him. Warrington made a big bid and Cas refused it. They didn’t need the cash.

“We did it [the deal] openly. Cas still offered and put the pressure on us. Truey had a great time with Daryl [Powell] and he loves Radders [Lee Radford] and the staff. There’s no issues there. It was just probably time to push his boundaries.”
