Plymouth Argyle international round-up: Victor Palsson, Freddie Issaka in action
Plymouth Argyle experienced defender Victor Palsson made his 46th appearance for Iceland in their 2-0 win away to Montenegro in their latest UEFA Nations League game.
Palsson was named among the substitutes for the Group B4 match in Niksic, but replaced Aron Gunnarsson in only the 19th minute and went on to play his part in an important victory for his country. A win against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night would see Iceland finish above Wales in second place in the group and therefore secure a promotion play-off place at their expense.
At least with the game taking place in Cardiff it will be a short trip back to Plymouth for Palsson ahead of Argyle's return to Championship action on Friday night when they play Watford in a Sky-televised clash at Home Park.

Argyle defender Kornel Szucs was an unused substitute when Hungary were beaten 4-0 by the Netherlands in Amsterdam in the Nations League Group A3. The 23-year-old had made his senior international debut in their previous match, off the bench near the end of a 2-0 win away to Bosnia Herzegovina last month.
There was another Wales under-19s appearance for Argyle's 18-year-old attacker Freddie Issaka when they lost 2-1 to France in the second of three matches at their UEFA European Championship qualifying round, which is being staged in Scotland.
Issaka was a 57th minute substitute for Derby County's Cruz Allen during the game at the Forthbank Stadium in Stirling. The Pilgrims' prospect had come up with the assist when the Welsh beat Scotland 1-0 last Wednesday.
Wales complete their qualifying round campaign against Liechtenstein at Cappielow Park in Greenock tomorrow (Tuesday). The top two nations in the group will progress to the elite qualifying round in March.
Argyle's on-loan Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi made his England under-21s debut in a 0-0 draw with Spain in Cadiz on Friday night when he was a substitute for Tyler Morton in the 78th minute of the friendly international. The young Lions will be away to the Netherlands in Almere tomorrow.
Striker Ben Waine, who is on loan to Mansfield Town from Argyle, made his 22nd appearance for New Zealand and scored his eighth goal with a stoppage time penalty in an 8-0 victory over Samoa in their latest 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Waine was a half-time substitute for Callum McCowatt as Nottingham Forest forward Chris Wood completed a hat-trick during the All Whites' home match in Auckland.
Argyle attacker Mustapha Bundu is part of the Sierra Leone squad for their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group G qualifier against Zambia tomorrow, which will be played in the Liberian city of Monrovia. Sierra Leone's outside hopes of advancing to the finals of the tournament, to be played in Morocco late next year, were ended when Zambia beat Ivory Coast 1-0 on Friday.
One nation who have secured a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations are Zimbabwe, who have been without injured Argyle defender Brendan Galloway for this international break. The Warriors made sure of qualifying from Group J, along with Cameroon, by drawing 1-1 against Kenya.
