Plymouth Argyle player ratings as two-goal Andre Gray stars against Watford
Here are the player ratings of Plymouth Live's Argyle reporter Chris Errington from the Pilgrims' 2-2 draw with Watford at Home Park. You can give your marks too using our special widget further down this story.
Dan Grimshaw 7 - Made a crucial save in the closing stages of the game to prevent Watford taking what would have been a commanding 3-1 lead. Vakoun Bayo had a one-on-one chance after being set up by Moussa Sissoko but the Argyle goalkeeper did well to spread himself and make a save, diverting the ball away for a corner. Had that gone in it would have been all over.
Kornel Szucs 6 - Only returned to Argyle the day before the return to Championship action after being away on international duty with Hungary. He did not get any minutes in either of their UEFA Nations League games with the Netherlands and Germany so he was perhaps not at his sharpest and most decisive against Watford.

Julio Pleguezuelo 6 - Retained his place in the starting line-up, even with Lewis Gibson fit again, as Wayne Rooney opted for a new 3-4-1-2 formation, with Pleguezuelo in the centre of the defensive trio. It was not easy for Pleguezuelo or the rest of his team-mates against a talented Watford attacking unit but, to their credit, they stuck to their task.
Lewis Gibson 7 - Handed the captain's armband on his return to duty for Argyle after missing four matches due to a thigh injury. It was from his accurate long diagonal cross that Andre Gray volleyed home a 23rd minute equaliser. Gibson did get booked in the second half when he tripped Vakoun Bayo as the Watford striker threatened to run away from him but, overall, it was an encouraging comeback from him.
Matty Sorinola 6 - Watford tore apart Argyle at times in the first half and Sorinola, playing at right wing-back, must have felt helpless as he tried to contain Giorgi Chakvetadze and especially Yasser Larouci. He did not let his head drop, though, and in the second half he was able to push forward rather than defend all the time as the Pilgrims split their three central defenders wide across the pitch.
Adam Randell 6 - Argyle were outplayed in all areas for most of the first half, including in central midfield where Randell and Darko Gyabi were second best to powerful Watford skipper Moussa Sissoko and the skilful Imran Louza, but there was more intensity from the duo and the rest of their team-mates after the interval which made the game more of an even contest.
Darko Gyabi 7 - Set the tone for an improved second half showing from the Pilgrims with an early shot from distance which was not far over the crossbar and the recent England under-21 international debutant also had a low drive saved at his near post by Daniel Bachmann. Gyabi's drive to get Argyle going forward helped a lot.
Bali Mumba 6 - Was yellow-carded inside the opening seconds of the game after a lunging challenge on Moussa Sissoko. It was a surprise to see him booked so early on by referee Andy Davies and it put the left wing-back under pressure not to commit other fouls for the rest of the match but he was able to walk that disciplinary tightrope successfully, while still largely doing all of his defensive duties.
Morgan Whittaker 6 - Went close to putting Argyle 2-1 only moments after Andre Gray had equalised. Given the freedom to roam in a number 10 role, he found space in a central position and from 25 yards out he crashed a shot inches wide of the Watford goal. Put in a good shift defensively for his side before he was substituted in the 68th minute because of a toe injury which had been troubling him over recent days.
Michael Obafemi 6 - Paired up front with Andre Gray but they had to live off scraps in the first half as Watford did nearly all of the attacking, although Obafemi did go close with one sharp shot on the turn from the edge of the box when it was 1-1. That was as close as the on-loan Burnley striker came t getting on the scoresheet.
Andre Gray 9 STAR MAN - His overall performance perhaps does not merit such a high mark but, make no mistake, his two goals were both absolutely outstanding. The first displayed tremendous technique to hit a ball coming across to him from his left on the volley. and the second - the Pilgrims' last-gasp equaliser - was so perfectly-placed into the far corner of the net that Watford 'keeper Daniel Bachmann did not even move because he knew it was unstoppable.
SUBSTITUTES
Callum Wright 6 - Made a decent contribution after replacing Morgan Whittaker in the 69th minute, and went close to getting an equaliser with a low angled shot from inside the Watford box which did not go far wide, aided by a slight deflection.
Mustapha Bundu 6 - Like Callum Wright, Bundu continues to appear better suited to coming off the bench in games and causing problems for tiring opposition players. He went up front after taking over from Michael Obafemi in the 79th minute.
Freddie Issaka 6 - The 18-year-old has played in a wide left attacking role at times for Argyle this season but on this occasion he went into the right wing-back role when he was sent on for Matty Sorinola in the 79th minute.
Substitutes (not used): Marko Marosi, Nathanael Ogbeta, Jordan Houghton, Adam Forshaw, Rami Al Hajj, Victor Palsson.
