Paul Pogba is reportedly set to join Juventus from Manchester United on a free transfer for the second time in his career.

After failing to agree a new deal with United back in 2012, the French midfielder joined the Italian club.

Four years and 178 appearances later, Pogba returned to Old Trafford for a world-record £89m fee.

The 29-year-old won the Europa League and League Cup in his first season back, but overall was only able to perform in fits and starts for the Red Devils, whilst consistently starring on the international stage for France.

After a difficult 2021/22 campaign, Pogba’s contract expired, making him available on a free transfer this summer.

And multiple sources have claimed he will be re-joining Juventus.

Writing on Twitter, Fabrizio Romano said on Tuesday: “Juventus are closing on final details for Paul Pogba deal. Contract almost agreed, €8m salary net per season plus add ons. It’s just matter of final details. Juventus expect Pogba to sign the contract for his return very soon.”

And on Wednesday, Romano added: “Paul Pogba will sign his contract with Juventus at the beginning of July, the expectation into the club is now clear. Final details are being discussed but verbal agreement is in place for his return. Pogba has turned down Man City approaches one month ago.”

Pogba will hope to replicate the success he had at Juve the first time around. In his four years in Turin, the Frenchman won four Serie A titles and two Italian Cups and helped the Old Lady reach the Champions League final in 14/15.

Speaking earlier this month, Pogba said that he wants to “feel loved” at his next club.

He said: “I just want the best for me. I’m thinking, putting everything together, take my time, and I’m just looking for the best, I want to play football, be myself always, and enjoy what I do.

“I need to enjoy what I do because otherwise I cannot perform well. I don’t want to be thinking negatively. We can be losing games, trophies but you have to be happy and enjoy yourself – that’s what I’m looking for.

“Everybody wants to feel loved, everyone needs that in your soul to feel appreciated.”
