Police close busy Colchester road as woman is injured in collision with car
A BUSY road in Colchester has been closed by the police due to a collision between a car and a woman.
Mersea Road has been shut with police officers following an incident at about 9.30am today.
The closure is in place near the BP garage and Abbot's Road junction of the city centre bound carriageway.

An Essex Police spokeswoman said: “We were called shortly before 9.30am following reports of a collision involving a car and a Contributorswoman.

“The road is closed whilst we and the ambulance service deal with the incident.”
First Bus has stated its S8, 86, 174 and 175 routes are affected by the incident.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 9.25am with reports that an adult woman had been knocked off her bicycle in a collision with a car on Mersea Road in Colchester.
"An ambulance was sent to the scene and transported the woman to Colchester Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
