Police update on violent outbreak which saw dog bite officer and patrol car smashed
Police have provided an update on an outbreak of violence on a North East estate at the weekend that saw an officer bitten by a large dog after his van was smashed with a pole.
Cleveland Police said today (Monday) a 27-year-old man who was arrested following the incident in South Bank on Saturday afternoon (September 23) has been interviewed released on bail pending further enquiries.
A police officer suffered injuries to his leg when he was attacked by a large Malinois dog after his van was smashed.

Chaos broke out on Park Avenue, South Bank, Middlesbrough at 2pm after officers were called out to deal with an incident.
Cleveland Police said officers were attending an address in the street in response to a report of violence when the attack happened.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson at the weekend: “A 27-year-old man from Middlesbrough has been arrested following an incident in Park Avenue, Southbank.
“The incident happened at 2pm today, Saturday 23 September, when officers attended an address in response to a report of violence.
“Upon arrival at the property, a police vehicle was smashed with a pole causing significant damage to the windscreen of the vehicle.

“A police officer was then bitten by a large Malinois dog, sustaining injuries to his leg.
A man was arrested on suspicion of common assault, battery, affray and attempted section 18 assault.
In a statement released today, Cleveland Police said: "A 27-year-old man who was arrested following an incident in South Bank on Saturday afternoon (23rd September) has been interviewed by detectives from Redcar CID and released on bail pending further enquiries.
